Caudillos

The Caudillo series takes a look at the hope and disapointment in the political leaders of Latin America. Caudillos are strongmen who lead popular liberation movements. Often they themselves become oppressors. Fidel Castro is the prime example of a liberator turned dictator. In some of the pieces, Fidel Castro is portrayed as a young heroic leader, but his surroundings are chaotic and ominous. Other works emphasize the frailty of his later years along with the symbolic expectation of his death.
