Welcome
Adrian Aguirre was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. In 2009, he received an MFA from the College of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas. As a student he was awarded with two competitive scholarships Slingshot and Thomas Norby Memorial Scholarship in painting and was a finalist for last year’s prestigious Hunting Art Prize. Aguirre’s work has been shown in select group exhibitions at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, The Dallas Latino Cultural Center, 500X gallery, and Projects gallery in Philadelphia. His thesis show, Jornaleros, was praised as a “powerful body of work” in a recent article by Gaile Robinson, art critic at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The Jornaleros series is sympathetic representation of migrant workers in the U.S and it seeks to put a human face on today’s immigration debate.
